Short test 2020: JP-Australia Windsurf SUP
The windsurf SUP from JP-Australia is available in 2020 in a modified design. The JP Windsurf SUP is still one of the best light wind and family boards for windsurfing and SUPing

When we tried out the JP Windsurf SUP last season, the verdict was extremely positive. In 2020, the wooden construction will become a sandwich construction, which is almost 50 euros cheaper (now 1699 euros), but also increases the board weight by a good 2.5 kilos to 13.8 kilos. The higher weight is largely due to the rubber pads now glued to the bow and stern, which protect the board from impacts even if it is set down roughly - a very useful feature in this board segment. Fortunately, the additional ballast is hardly noticeable on the water: The Windsurf SUP (328 x 81 centimetres) is stable in the water with its 189 litres of volume and the folding centreboard, even for climbers. The large soft deck is easy to stand on and is also ideal for children to play on. Thanks to its slight upturn and moderate length, the JP board also responds well to steering impulses from children's and youth rigs.

surf conclusion:

The JP Windsurf SUP is still one of the best light wind and family boards for windsurfing and SUPing - you can even paddle small waves with it.

Deputy Editor in Chief surf

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
