What has happened?
The huge step forward is that the watch is completely waterproof. The battery is charged using contacts on the underside of the watch and the USB cable supplied. The charger, i.e. the mains adapter, is not included. However, it works with almost any USB mobile phone charger. Operation is very simple and is done using four buttons on the watch.
And that works?
Yes, it works very well and should be no problem at all, even with tired, cold fingers.
How is the display?
Large, easy-to-read lettering and backlighting ensure perfect legibility.
What else has changed technically?
Technically, the device is basically identical to the GW-52 in terms of its inner workings: the important 5 Hz measurement, Doppler principle and everything else the speeder needs.
Why should you buy the Locosys now?
I think this is now a really well-rounded thing that will also work well. The only disadvantage for me is that the watch always goes into sleep mode, even when the GPS is off. This means that if you want to use it as a normal watch, you have to press the "on" button every time you just want to know the time. However, this has also been fixed with the update to the beta version. Another top feature is that the best 500 metre times are displayed directly on the watch.
No instructions included?
There is an English Quick Start Guide on , which is very good and with which you can set up everything. I have also summarised a German guide with illustrations.
How is the data transferred to the computer?
This is done in the same way as charging via USB cable and the GW-60 Utility programme, which can be downloaded free of charge from the manufacturer's website.
What else should I bear in mind?
The strap is too short for larger wrists over the Winterneo. I ordered an extension from Suunto for 18 euros, which fits perfectly.
The watch is available in the Surfshop; also seen at www.largepoint.com for 205.90 euros.
