Award-winning US documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger accompanied Robby Naish and looks back on his career - with all its ups and downs.

After his active competition career, Robby Naish once said that he wanted to ride the longest wave in the world. Joe Berlinger took this vision as the leitmotif for his 98-minute film "The Longest Wave".

Berlinger shows Robby's life from his first successes to becoming a legend and also tells the story of windsurfing itself. In addition to Naish, Pete Cabrinha, Laird Hamilton and Matt Schweizer also have their say.

Robby Naish's serious kite accident, in which he broke his pelvis, occurred during the filming period. He also had to come to terms with his divorce from his wife Katie. Robby's daughter gives an insight into her father's inner life.

"The Longest Wave" is freely accessible in the ZDF media library until 31 December 2022. Click here for the film >>

Tobi is our digital man, he looks after the surf website and social media channels and gets on everyone's nerves every morning by asking for more pictures and videos. His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
