WindsportTracker is expanding its portfolio from two to 13 water sports with version 2. The app now covers windsurfing, wingfoiling, kitesurfing, windfoiling, parawing, pumpfoiling and sailing, among others. In addition to measuring speed, the software analyses manoeuvres such as jibes and tacks, differentiating between starboard and port as well as 360s. The system also records wave rides and pump-oil runs. The algorithms are based on over ten years of development work and recognise movement patterns precisely, provided the GPS data is of high quality. The app works cross-platform on iPhone, Android devices and as a web application. Sessions are managed via a user account and synchronise automatically between all devices. Equipment management is no longer subject to a numerical limit.
Several hardware options are available for recording. Smartphones with iPhone or Android can be used in waterproof cases. Apple Watch and WearOS smartwatches record directly on the wrist. The direct integration of Garmin, Suunto, Polar and Coros enables the use of the manufacturers' respective standard apps. The prerequisite is the activation of one-hertz recording in the device settings. The data is imported automatically and filters prevent running or cycling training sessions from appearing in the water sports overview. In addition to the common GPX and TCX formats, the app supports proprietary file formats from Motion GPS, ESP32-GPS and Vakaros Atlas.
WindsportTracker V2 costs from €2.70 per month as a subscription or €27 per year when booked via the website. The prices in the App Store and Google Play are higher due to the store fees. Users who pay via the website can still use the native apps on iPhone and Android. The web app offers the same analysis functions as the mobile applications and allows analysis on a large screen.
