- With the Obi Pro, Goya has developed a minimalist, lightweight hip harness designed specifically for windsurfing, with a focus on comfort and durability.
- Modular design with a fixed or adjustable hook option, Curv hardshell, 360° strap structure and a quick-release system on both sides for stability and safety.
- The harness was tested for over a year in Maui, Hood River, Tarifa and other spots by team riders; ‘Obi’ refers to a Japanese belt, symbolising strength and simplicity.

- Lightweight hard-shell hip harness with a minimalist design, available in six colours, with a choice of standard or sliding hooks, priced at 349 euros each.
- Excellent freedom of movement and good back support thanks to the rigid shell, low weight and non-slip fit; low water absorption.
- Very comfortable to wear, but a personal fitting is recommended; sizes XS to XL; a minor drawback: the straps need to be loosened to engage the quick-release fastener.

- On 25–26 September 2026, Patagonia will be offering free repairs for clean wetsuits and surfwear in Munich on a first-come, first-served basis.
- In addition, there will be upcycling and surfboard repair workshops, film screenings and a panel discussion on inclusion in surfing.
- All events are free or donation-based; all proceeds will go to Deutsche Umwelthilfe and other marine conservation NGOs.

- Surf shoes protect against cuts and bruises in summer, provide grip and, despite their thin soles, can give you a good feel for the board.
- Key criteria: thin neoprene (approx. 2–3 mm), balanced sole thickness, good protection for the toes and instep, an elasticated cuff and, where necessary, Velcro fastening to prevent slipping.
- Fit is crucial; models vary greatly in width, protection, feel and features, which is why it’s essential to try them on before buying.

- Thin surfing gloves protect against blisters, softened skin and sunburn in warm water, without significantly compromising grip.
- ION gloves are thin, lightweight and offer a very direct feel on the boom; they are particularly suitable as summer and all-round gloves with good grip.
- Ascan gloves offer more robust protection against the cold and wind; they are thicker, less responsive and, due to their reinforcements, tend to crease on the palm.

- The choice of summer wetsuit depends on your skill level, water and air temperatures, wind strength, the area you’re kitesurfing in, and your sun protection needs.
- Different models (shorty, steamer, long john, long-sleeved/3/4-sleeved shorty, thermal base layer, Lycra, neoprene shorts) offer varying levels of protection and comfort.
- Knee protection and sealed seams are particularly important when getting back on the board frequently, in cold water or in rough conditions, to prevent you from getting cold and to avoid injuries.

- We tested two lightweight summer neoprene shoes from France: Atan Sunfast and Wetty Reef Surf Boots, both with latex soles.
- Atan Sunfast: very soft, good fit, balanced compromise between protection and board feel, but narrow entry.
- Wetty Reef: very light, cut-resistant Armortex, strong barefoot feel with little cushioning, treadless sole and large size jumps.

- GA Beat hip harness (€249) offers a soft, snug fit, good pressure distribution and great freedom of movement for a wide range of uses.
- Quick-release fastener holds securely, but is a little awkward to open/close and doesn't look fully developed.
- The harness is heavily padded, protects the ribcage and sits very comfortably, but tends to run a little smaller than usual.

Harnesses: GA Beat - particularly comfortable waist harness on test
