Just hang out and relax - read our test to find out which of these seat and hip harnesses can turn even long sessions from a hang-out into a hang-out party.

Seat harnesses for freeriding on flat water, hip harnesses for tricks and surfing in the waves - most windsurfers have memorised this. But at the latest since even regatta surfers have been hanging on to their 9 race sails with hip harnesses and firmly claiming that they are faster with them, old basic principles seem to have been thrown out the window.

In addition, more and more brands are launching hard-shell hip harnesses that promise perfect pressure distribution and maximum comfort. We wanted to find out for sure and approached the manufacturers with a simple request: "Send us your most comfortable harness that allows you to hold out for a long time even with large sails!"

Very few windsurfers get 50 surfing days a year - which is why you should choose a harness that fits well and offers a lot of comfort.Photo: Oliver MaierVery few windsurfers get 50 surfing days a year - which is why you should choose a harness that fits well and offers a lot of comfort.

This resulted in 14 models. The well-known supply bottlenecks are also the reason why some brands are not represented in this test. This also applies to many women's harnesses. We will present these in detail as soon as possible.

You can find the entire test of these 14 comfort harnesses from SURF 10/2021 with all the overview tables, data and grades as a PDF in the download area below:
