"Controlled 100 per cent waterproofing" - New test procedures are now intended to eliminate the problems of the first generation of ION suits.

The only moisture in the ION-Fuse "comes from the inside", promises the marketing, "ION cannot keep sweat from fear and exertion out of the suit". This was not always the case; the first wetsuits in the 2010 range of neoprene drysuits, the Fusion model at the time, repeatedly struggled with leaking seams. However, ION hopes "that the majority of windsurfers will appreciate the innovative idea and the impetus of the new product category". After four years of tinkering with the Fuse 2016 and with the support of the manufacturer Sheico, they are also convinced of its function and impermeability. The seams are now glued using "Diving Dry Seam Technology" - just like dry suits. In addition, not a single suit leaves the factory untested. All five cuffs are temporarily sealed and the suit is then clamped into a giant "fish grill". A hose is fed through one of the cuffs to fill the suit with compressed air and then the suit is immersed. Only when the suit does not let out any air bubbles even after turning is it ready to be dried and packed for despatch.

The pictures do not show the prototype test phase, but the final inspection in series production. This should now guarantee 100 per cent tightness, which was not always the case in the past:
