If the size does not fit exactly, the hole for the harness hook is also not in the ideal place. A variable system would have made sense here, especially as the hook position for seat and hip harnesses is at different heights anyway. We therefore recommend that you always try the jacket on in the shop with a harness.

We tested the hoodie in temperatures of one to eight degrees with a normal winter neo. As expected, the jacket massively reduces the wind chill effect and significantly prevents the body from cooling down - you notice the difference as soon as you take the jacket off briefly when it's wet. Thanks to the fairly wide cut, the freedom of movement is excellent and does not restrict you even during extreme contortions. The water immediately runs out of the bottom of the jacket after every exit, while small drainage holes on the sleeves above the wrists ensure that no water remains there. The jacket is not ideal for swimming longer distances due to its wide cut. The only drawback is that the hook sometimes slips out of the hole when you fall or swim and you can no longer hook yourself in - a small improvement would do well here.

Conclusion: The NP Neo Hoodie is highly recommended for anyone who wants to get out on the water in the cold season - even if only for surf breaks. Surf instructors will also love the jacket for teaching.
