If you mainly surf in the surf, you should opt for pure wave sails. However, sails such as the GunSails Torro are not unsuitable for round swell waves or small surf.

The GunSails Torro is a planing and very controllable freemove sail that is ideal for small freeride or freemove boards.

The all-round sail is available in the same shape Torro still made from recycled materials (Re-Torro). The 5.7 was tuned more powerfully than last year with a higher profile in the lower sail area. As always, trimming aid Fred assists in finding the right luff trim.

With the Torro, it is very easy to find the right angle of attack, and overall the sail has above-average power. You can get by with little trim sheet tension, which gives you a lot of power with a stable pressure point. Even in wind holes, you can always feel some planned pull on the sail hand, which helps to keep the pressure on the fin and maintain a good average speed.

In manoeuvres, the sail also shows little nakedness, delivering good pull in the jibe. However, it is not quite as light in the hand as the featherweights in the group when performing rotated moves from duck jibes to spin loops.

Surf summary of the GunSails Torro 5.7:

The Torro is the ideal sail for small freeride or freemove boards as it is very planing and easy to control. The model definitely fulfils the all-round requirement, with a slight tendency to heat up on flat water. There are even handier alternatives for basic freestyle and waves.
