Surf recommendation: An agile sail for active surfers, ideal in high winds and manoeuvres, super light and with endless pressure point stability. As a lazy freemover, the Natural is probably better suited to North Sails.

On land: The tried and tested trim markings guide you quickly to the right setup, then you have a comparatively flatter sail in front of you. With a very short boom, top equipment, good reinforcements, lots of X-Ply at the top and relatively thick monofilm in the window area.

On the water: As a rattling flat, light and agile sail, the Volt is already heading towards freestyle, at least it can really turn up the heat during manoeuvre sessions. If you are looking for a passive planing sail, you won't be able to hang on to it for long - the Volt is more likely to inspire active manoeuvre surfers, who can pump briefly and then aim for the next move. The forward pressure point ensures outstanding agility and optimum control in a straight line. Properly powered up, no other sail seems so light and fast at the same time, with such low holding forces. But actually the North doesn't want to race senselessly, it wants to be ducked, thrown, stalled and shifted. It would pass without complaint as a great freestyle sail, only the very progressive freestylers now even want more power in the move for the jump from the back position - but then that's the professional league. For the "normal" surfer who is first practising the simple spock, a nice light, neutral sail like the Volt is still ideal. In a manoeuvre comparison, the Volt seems smaller and easier to handle than all the others, which more than compensates the manoeuvre surfer for the lack of power in weaker winds.
