The Goya goes into the test unchanged with just a mast treatment. In 2025, the only camber sail from Goya comes unchanged and in a bright "Hello, here I come" design. The sail is undisputedly the most eye-catching splash of colour at any freeride spot and a dream object for photos in the Fuji Velvia look - whatever the weather.
The features and reinforcements once again set the almost customary Goya top standard - but the sail is no bargain, despite the fact that the price has remained unchanged for two years. The diagonal Kevlar threads alone add an extra touch of luxury to the coloured monofilm, and the sail simply looks first class on the beach.
The mast configuration is new in this test and offers a nice opportunity for comparison, because all the testers still remembered the striking Goya sail from the 2023 test. Even on the presumably stiffer SDM mast, the Mark II with its large belly proved to be powerful, but also damped and more comfortable than crisp and direct. The thinner RDM mast is literally sucked into the mast sleeve without any effort on the part of the rider, the smaller camber supplied snaps on easily and the trim forces are comparatively low. When set up, the sail looks like a freeride sail - and this impression is confirmed on the water.
The slightly flatter profile on the RDM probably costs a bit of planing power and speed potential in light winds, otherwise the sail retains its very noticeable damping and the undisputed smoothest jibe handling, which is lifted a small step higher by the thinner mast. In strong wind trim it can be surfed for almost as long as the tightest race profiles in this group. The Goya does not fit perfectly into the freerace group and is not recommended for speed junkies on fast freerace boards. But any freeride windsurfer who has never surfed a camber sail before should find the transition to the Mark II particularly easy. It therefore also harmonises perfectly with classic freeride boards.
On the RDM mast, the Mark II appears a touch more manageable than on the SDM mast tested in 2023, but loses light wind performance. It remains the best sail for jibes in this camber class with competitive control in strong winds.
