Fast, yet manoeuvrable; sporty, yet still offering plenty of comfort: high-performance camberless freerace sails are the best choice for anyone who wants to go full throttle without any stress. Even the Tests carried out in recent years have shown that you don’t necessarily have to bother with camber if you want to go fast. On the contrary, modern no-camber sails are often hardly any less effective than their cambered counterparts.
Our 2026 test features seven sails ranging from 7.0 to 7.3 square metres, offering a wide variety of characteristics. Alongside updated classics such as the Severne NCX, GunSails Rapid, GA Sails Matrix and Sailloft Cross, we were able to compare the new additions – the Duotone X_Pace and NeilPryde Speedster Evo – with the rest of the group for the first time. There is also a previously unknown contender in the mix: the Goya Mark 7.
At our Test spot on Tobago We were able to ride the “Magnificent Seven” in a wide range of conditions: marginal downwind conditions at the lower limit, fantastic long-distance cruising with plenty of power, and strong winds right up to the limit – we experienced it all. Alongside intensive individual tests in various trims, detailed comparative rides on identical boards were the main priorities.
You can find the full test, including all the reviews, in surf 5/2026, out from 18 August. All the sailing details are available here in advance.
