The GA Matrix looks quite classy with its monofilm coloured throughout and subtle colouring. When it comes to trim, you can pretty much rely on the luff specification; we set the clew to around four centimetres less than specified. Too much outhaul tension damages the sail - loosely hooked in and then pulled one centimetre taut worked best in the test. In general, it reacts somewhat more sensitively than usual to smaller trim changes, so a little more sensitivity is required. But then it turns out to be a very balanced sail without any weaknesses. Even on the SDM mast it is not too stiff and offers comfortable damping.
It finds the right angle of attack to the wind almost automatically and therefore does not require a high level of riding skill. The Matrix is very stable over the board even in gusty winds, conveys a lot of safety and thus constantly encourages the board to accelerate to top speed in a controlled manner. It also handles strong gusts well thanks to the wide twisting leech, making it suitable for a wide range of uses. In manoeuvres, the batten slightly touches the mast above the boom - but this is neither audible nor noticeable when the sail pulls into the jibe with good drive: a manoeuvrable sail that also goes well with strong winds and fast boards.
