The Zoom follows the typical GunSails trimming concept: the luff is set after the trim point, which gives the sail a lot of slack in the leech - the clew is then only loosely to slightly tensioned. This ensures a pressure point that is moderately further back with a slight emphasis on the rear hand on the boom and very good acceleration after planing. There is no need to be afraid of too much pull on the rear arm - the sail is backhanded - at any time. The sail's very good controllability is permanently built into the sail with good luff tension, a stable batten corset and plenty of slack.
You have to be careful not to kill the planing performance by pulling too hard on the clew. In the right trim, the sail gives the board a lot of lift, the back hand operates the throttle and offers the full freeride programme between leisurely cruising and sporty flying on the fin. For full performance, a little body tension is no disadvantage, the sail always feels light and manoeuvrable, but also not as stable as if it were set in concrete. This requires some guidance on the boom, but also makes you want to manoeuvre. It pulls well into the jibe, the rotation is slightly noticeable and a little audible underlined by the battens.
