With seven battens, the NeilPryde Speedster is quite inviting.

With the NeilPryde Speedster, you have clearly arrived in the fast-seatbelt faction of camless sails. The seven battens not only act like additional rally stripes in the sail, but also ensure profile stability and speed.

Similar to Ezzy, the battens stand a little behind the mast without touching, even without wind pressure, and form a neatly visible profile without pressure, the leech lies loose without tension far into the sail and down to the boom. The trim was right for us when set up according to the specifications, with the clew only loosely attached. The sail planes well and then accelerates away from almost everyone else in the first gust.

Light yet stable, it stands over the board and is very easy to keep on course even with a narrow grip width. Also because the pressure point in the sail always remains where the designer intended it: nothing moves upwards or backwards. Perfect for holding and accelerating - and all with little effort. The predetermined profile also pulls well into the jibe and needs to be pushed a little harder, but the contactless rotation of the battens has a soft effect and also gives the sail good handling in jibes. Surfing fast and jibing safely - the Speedster does this particularly well.
