But first things first! Even though we didn't have a classic cross to compare, the High Ratio, which was delivered to us at the last minute for testing almost on the moving train, seems a little softer and easier to handle without losing any of its well-known strengths. These are the stable ride and good controllability even with a loose clew. A sail that is great to pull down onto the deck and is simply fun to heat up with low holding forces.
The six battens always keep the pressure point, which is a little further back, under control, but this slight emphasis on the sail hand enables active, good acceleration and throttle response throughout the wind range. The sail appears somewhat softer than the rather rigid profile body of previous seasons - and is therefore also easier to handle in manoeuvres. The permanent profile in the battens still pulls a little more powerfully into the jibe, but comes back up again with a manageable amount of power and shifts easily, albeit with a noticeable turn of the battens. A successful freeride sail that jibes well and accelerates even better.
Light, fast, good for accelerating
