The decision has been made! After years of bickering about the sense and nonsense of bulky pincers in the mast, sails with and without camber have established themselves peacefully side by side. It's not a question of which is better, but rather personal preference. Old prejudices about camber jumping off were also clearly disproved in this test. Today, all sailmakers have the same control over what happens in the mast pocket. And at least the four camber candidates are similar in one other respect: No sail can claim a clear advantage in the "controllability in strong winds" grade. We were able to award the top score of ten points four times, as none of the seven sails were particularly impressed by a good five wind forces. The handling was astonishing. The camber sails are hardly at a disadvantage in the seven freeride sail class, as these cloths are hardly ever used for tricky freestyle tricks.
But beware: all the scores for the sails with camber are not directly comparable with those of the sails without camber. The best sails in the group are very close to each other in terms of performance and handling - which is why the question of "camber or no camber" ultimately comes down to personal taste.
