The GunSails Rapid was extensively tested by the surf testers in Tobago
The surf team was able to check, rig and surf the new GunSails Rapid 7.2 extensively. Find out whether it is well equipped, how it feels, what it does on the water and whether it is recommended as an alternative to a camber sail in our new video!

The GunSails Rapid 7.2 was a "special guest" at the big surf test in Tobago. Without being part of a test group, the 2025 Rapid was available to us for extensive test runs.

The name "Rapid" (fast, quick) doesn't promise too much: as a freerace sail without camber, the Gun sail combines performance and good handling. Positioned between the six-batten Zoom freeride sail and the GunSails Spectro as a 2-cam freeride sail (test coming in surf 6/2025!), the Rapid is a real recommendation for all ambitious freeriders and freeracers, it fits all freeride and freerace boards. Even in the 2024 test, the GunSails Rapid impressed as a very fast and particularly stable sail with excellent controllability.

With a lot of stability and easy control, the Rapid is very easy to call up power, and the ride always feels stable and curled. The sail is also at the forefront when it comes to equipment: Whether materials, reinforcements or mast protector, nothing is left to be desired. The Rapid therefore looks extremely solid and durable without having to accept any disadvantages in handling. Six of the seven battens are high-quality tube battens that provide a lot of stability. The leech is not only stabilised by stable X-Ply, but also by mini battens.

The GunSails Rapid is available in seven sizes from 5.2 to 8.4 square metres, with the "Re-Rapid" version consisting of up to 50% recycled PET bottles. "By using recycled material, each square metre contains around 10 recycled PET bottles, which saves an additional 400 g of CO2 per m² in material production," promises GunSails. You can find out all about the sail in the video above and on the surf channel on YouTube!
