On land: The NCX has an almost untypical straight mast curve for a camberless sail, with the nice effect that the mast can be threaded in quite easily. Logically, this is also very easy with the Turbo. Four rollers in the trim block bring pleasingly low trim forces to the surfer muckis on both sails. Both sails have seven battens, the Turbo also has the camber in the very wide mast pocket and significantly more reinforcements in the leech (the NCX looks very slimmed down) and therefore weighs just under half a kilo more. The Severne cuts show quite a lot of loose leech, and the NCX has a surprisingly deep profile in the battens for a no-cam sail - quite far forward - even without wind pressure.
On the water: The Turbo can't keep up with the extremely light-acting NCX, but unlike the Pryde pairing, the camberless version can clearly score points. The Turbo is less agile and can be pumped very effectively with good pressure build-up, but the NCX does this even more effortlessly and with more pumping pleasure. The Turbo immediately builds up a little more pressure after planing and has minimal advantages in the acceleration phase and when planing through wind holes as well as upwind. Here the NCX once again proves to be an extremely strong NoCam sail and a strong sparring partner.
Both sails are quite stable in the hand, but they are not pure holding sails where you can simply hold them roughly tight with your back hand. It takes a little more sensitivity to get the best performance out of these sails. When jibing, the Turbo motor jerks quite a bit, but the battens on the NCX also have to be pushed quite far around the mast. However, both sails are once again characterised by a light (Turbo) to extremely light sail feel (NCX).
