What became very clear during the test of the freeride sails on Tobago: all ten test candidates have their strengths and are recommended for certain target groups. However, the group is very different from one another: while some models look like a race sail without camber, with a lot of predetermined profile and plenty of power, other candidates come across as handy sails for manoeuvre-oriented freeriding.
We tested the ten test sails extensively at Pigeon Point on Tobago - both in individual manoeuvre rounds and in direct comparison with identical boards. The conditions offered the full range from fully powered or even slightly overpowered to gusty winds at the lower planing limit. All of this in perfect flat water as well as in choppy waves - in other words, everything you would ride on the Baltic Sea, the IJsselmeer or Lake Garda.
In the gallery above you can take a first look at the test sails and the most important details. You will find the complete test with all characteristics and grades in surf 6/2024!
