The SuperHero has been Duotone's all-round sail for years, In the last test, the model impressed with its large wind range and low weight. Now the new 2026 model is said to have become even lighter.
Compared to last year's Duotone SuperHero, material has not simply been omitted. You can save weight by making the foil thinner, for example. However, this also changes the twist and the profile tension, which would not work. That's why the SuperHero SLs were redesigned from the ground up.
The panels are optimised purely for functionality. We have dispensed with seams and panels that only serve visual purposes. That alone saves around 200 grams. The film in the main panel has been slightly thinner, it is now three mils thick. However, this is still thicker than most of our competitors, which is why we can also offer our 5-year guarantee on this sail. We have also been able to save a little on the corner reinforcements by using a different Dacron material. All in all, a 4.7 has become around 450 grams lighter, and with a weight of around 2.65 kilos it is now one of the lightest models on the market.
You can't just leave out material to save weight! The SuperHero SLS has been completely redesigned.
The SuperHero E/LAB has a different material mix and stretch, which requires a completely different design (profile shape, luff curve, twist pattern). We also use more carbon x-ply and the main panel is made of thicker 4-mil material. In addition, the panels are glued and not sewn. This makes the whole sail even more stable because it has almost no stretch. The wind range is therefore slightly greater than with the SLS.
