NeilPryde Combat 5.3
Surf recommendation: If you mainly surf waves and weigh less than 90 kilos, go for the Combat - it's as simple as that with NeilPryde. The Combat's vapour and handling are just right, and it also tends to be more of a balanced all-round wave sail than a nervous flailing cloth - like the radical cloths of other brands.

On land: Atlas, Combat, The Fly - NeilPryde offers the full range of three wave sails. The Combat tends to flatten out on land, and the sail has been given a little more mast curve for better pressure point stability. The fully barred "HD" version of the Combat costs 30 euros more. The sail is tuned more via the clew than the luff for high winds.

On the water: Even on land, the almost straight bar above the fork shows where the journey is heading. Compared to the Atlas, the Combat is less curled in the hand even when surfing out - without appearing nervous. It remains true to old NeilPryde virtues. Freestylers will be happy about the flatter profile because nothing pulls in the wrong direction during manoeuvres. And on the wave, the increased agility - the Combat is nominally much smaller than the Atlas despite measuring just 0.1 square metres - is very noticeable. The Combat is simply a real wave sail, whereas the Atlas is more of a freemove wave hybrid. Because it is easier to handle and reacts much more quickly to every steering command, the Combat can steal the show from the Atlas on the wave at any time, as it also comes with plenty of power as standard.
