Test 2020: Wave sail 5.0
Three, four or five slats? You're spoilt for choice. But some manufacturers now also offer their wave sails in supposedly sophisticated membrane, laminate or PRO editions. We tested what's behind this and whether the hefty surcharges are money well spent.

That's 1257 euros, please - because you're only 1200 euros!"

For this considerable amount, you can buy two new wave sails from this test group, including some accessories. Or a PRO model from Severne. Regardless of the fact that significant discounts are usually granted at the shop counter, this example illustrates just how huge the differences are between the sails in this test group - at least at the till. In this test, we have tried out the extent of the added value on the water - if there is any at all - as a special topic and ordered the respective PRO, laminate or membrane version from brands such as NeilPryde, Severne and GunSails in addition to the "standard model". We also requested a laminate sail from Challenger - but although the brand was long regarded as a pioneer of the technology, this design will no longer be available from 2020.
