The solid Ezzy materials are de luxe, as are the long protector and additional patches on the batten tips. A pre-calibrated marker makes it possible to read the luff trim directly on the extension. The sleeve opening is cut wide, which saves annoying fiddling when fitting the boom. The Wave model has a very slim top and a very visible profile right up to the top. For certain sizes, Ezzy recommends a combination of different mast lengths (see data below), such as 340 lower section with 370 upper section for size 4.0 or 370/400 for size 4.7.
The Ezzy model offers a wide range of trim options and can be heavily customised in terms of its characteristics. In the bulbous light wind trim, the leech is tightly tensioned without loose leech, so it planes passably and offers plenty of drive when riding waves, where it generates a lot of propulsion in the bottom turn. When the wind picks up or in gusty conditions, choose a centre trim, in which the sail is very light and agile in the hands. However, it is then more difficult to find the right angle of attack and you would want the profile to load up a little more. Tip: Move the harness lines slightly apart and slightly backwards!
Properly powered up, this shortcoming fades into the background, because the Ezzy Sails Wave impresses with extremely low holding forces and plenty of agility. Speed potential and control are at the absolute top level, the slim top allows excess power to escape in a controlled manner and there is no need to worry about pressure point migration. In manoeuvres, the sail rotates extremely nimbly due to the centre of effort being further forward and conveys absolute lightness. Although the profile changes side noticeably, the Ezzy still plays in the Champions League when it comes to handling. With constant propulsion, it ensures that you arrive at the lip of the wave with sufficient speed. However, the Ezzy Wave is not an off-sail where the profile flattens out at the push of a button.
The agile Ezzy Sails Wave requires more sail feel when planing, but offers endless control and great handling across all wind ranges when powered up. It feels most at home in the hands of experienced wave fans. As a freeride sail for flat water, it is a little too technical, and the pre-shaped profile is annoying when freestyling.
