The wave all-rounder from Duotone draws a deep profile from the mast sleeve. Trim points in the top help with the right setup. Thanks to a vario top, you can even use the 400 cm mast, which should make the sail noticeably tighter. The equipment is convincing: despite its nominally low weight, the Super Hero looks well made and also offers helpful markings for luff and boom trim as well as the harness rope position. The batten attachments are also protected with darts, the protector is quite thin but long enough and can be folded down perfectly.
On the first sheet in, the Duotone Super Hero immediately pulls a full belly and stabilises immediately in the hands, so you don't have to search for the right angle of attack for long. In light wind trim, the sail already felt very soft. So that the light feeling is not lost, sufficient downhaul rope is always important, especially for heavy pilots, then it lies comfortably and without major holding forces in the hands even when powered up.
The Duotone model performs particularly well in terms of control; despite the damped sail feel, the centre of effort remains stable between the hands, and thanks to the pleasingly large wind range, trim adjustments are kept to a minimum. The profile, which is deep when the sail is close-hauled, flattens out again immediately when sheeting out. The result is a great off, which makes the Super Hero feel very playful and neutral - regardless of whether you are riding a duck jibe, trying out crouched freestyle tricks or firing into the air for a stalled forward.
When riding waves, the model can also cover all requirements: it loads up well at the beginning of the ride and provides sufficient acceleration on the wave face, but quickly releases the steam again in a bottom turn with the sail laid flat. As a result, it offers equal potential for powerful cutbacks and playful wave manoeuvres such as 360s and the like.
The Super Hero convinces with a successful mix of power, control and fine handling on the wave and during manoeuvres. The range of use goes beyond the surf, the Super Hero is also well suited for freestyle or strong wind sessions in flat water. Heavy surfers (> 90 kilos) should use the stiffer 400 cm mast.
