Wave sail 2026: NeilPryde Combat HD vs Pro Fuse video test
NeilPryde offers the Combat wave sail in two constructions - HD and Pro Fuse. Watch the video test to find out what you can expect from it on the water.

One model, two constructions! Like other brands, manufacturer NeilPryde offers the classic Combat wave sail in two versions: The HD-version weighs just 2.90 kilos in the test size of 5.0 square metres. With the Pro Fuse variant (2.75 kilos), the material in the clew area is welded instead of sewn, which saves another 150 grams of weight. This establishes both models among the lightest wave sails on the market. We had already tested the sails extensively in autumn 2025, and for the production of this video test we were out on the Baltic Sea again in April 2026. It became clear that the new model has nothing in common with the "old" Combat until the 2024 season. This is because the handling characteristics of the NeilPryde Combat have changed significantly thanks to the adjustment of the luff curve, boom length and profile shape.

The video test covers the following aspects:

  • Comparison of the two designs and differences to earlier Combat models
  • Tips on trim & tuning
  • Equipment & features
  • Test impressions on planing, control, handling & wave suitability

In the video test, we explain what the models can do on the water and what differences we noticed during testing.
