999 euros for a complete foil - that makes wingsurfers prick up their ears! The Hy-Wing Foil will initially be launched with a 1600 cm2 front wing and optionally two back wings. The manufacturer recommends the larger rear wing with 282 cm2 for all wingfoil beginners and riders weighing over 80 kilos in general. The smaller back wing (220 cm2) should therefore be the first choice for lightweight wingfoilers and enable a slightly higher top speed.
Here's an initial overview of the features of the new foil. Click through!
When designing the front wing, which has a span of 95 centimetres and is made of carbon, GunSails claims to have relied on the expertise of aeronautical engineers - the result is "a curved wing shape that promises unique tracking stability, plenty of lift and maximum control in every turn", says GunSails.
The carbon wings of the Hy-Foil are bolted to a 72 cm long aluminium fuselage, which is mounted on an 80 mm mast, which is also made of aluminium. According to the manufacturer, the complete foil should weigh in at 5.4 kilos and be successively expanded in a modular fashion.
The Foil will be available from September 2021, and we have already ordered a test model. You can read a test report shortly on www.wingsurf.world
