For the first time, the California Windsurf Cup and the California Wingfoil Masters will be held together at the same spot. Following the successful tour debut in 2024, the Windsurf Cup will return to Pelzerhaken from 4 to 6 July - this time with the addition of wingfoiling. Matthias Regber, organiser and Managing Director of Choppy Water GmbH, explains: "With its coastal location and infrastructure, Pelzerhaken offers ideal conditions for water sports at the highest level. The combination of both disciplines was a logical next step."
Three disciplines are on the programme: foiling and fin slalom for the windsurfers and wingfoil slalom for the wingers. All races take place on the same course directly in front of the pier. The organisers promise that an expert moderator will also introduce beginners to the world of surfing.
Multiple German, European and world champion Vincent Langer and summer opening winner Anton Richter are the top favourites going into the regatta. In foiling, they will be up against last year's ranking list winner Jonne Heimann, third-placed Keno Recke from Sylt and World Cup pro Lars Poggemann. They will be joined by Justus Schott in the Fin Slalom.
Free yoga sessions with LunaFlow, taster courses in stand-up paddling, windsurfing or wingfoiling as well as a Quattro Highjump facility for children ensure a varied programme. There are also various catering options on the pier. André Rosinski from the Lübeck Bay Tourism Agency is delighted: "The California Windsurf Cup is a great platform to further strengthen Pelzerhaken's water sports profile. Our local surfing community, combined with the national and international elite in windsurfing and wingfoiling, makes this tour stop a real highlight - for holidaymakers, active people and water sports fans alike."
