Participants and spectators had to wait a long time, but on the home stretch of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup at the top spot of Leucate in the south of France, the action could finally begin.

Two disciplines - surf racing and surf freestyle - were on the programme. In the former, the aim is to complete a marked course as quickly as possible, with the first half of the field in each heat progressing to the next round.

The freestyle discipline is spectacular: opponents compete directly against each other in 6-minute heats, with only the best four of a maximum of 15 trick attempts counting - so you can take full risks here.
