The Defi Wing, a long-distance race with 400 participants, is currently taking place in Gruissan in the south of France. Benjamin May is on course for a podium finish before the final day.

The Defi is nothing less than the world's most famous long-distance race for all kinds of water sports. After the kitesurfing guild first Defi Kite In the last round, almost 400 wingfoil fans are currently fighting for the best places - or just to get there, because the defi is tough: after the flying start off Gruissan Plage, the course runs for several kilometres along the coast at full speed towards Port-La-Nouvelle, burning arms and legs. After a gybe, it's back downwind to Gruissan and then onto a second lap. Overall, however, the Defi Wing runs are somewhat shorter than their windsurfing counterpart Defi Wind, for example, where a race is almost 40 kilometres long and 1500 (!) windsurfers take to the course at the same time from 9 May.

After two days of very good conditions, Frenchman Mathis Ghio is currently in the lead. Benjamin May, who made a statement by winning the first race, is currently in third place after five races, while Yannik Holste is also doing well and is in 15th place.

Here are the interim results after five races, the complete list of results can be found here.
