Sun, wind and endless material - the start of the Foil Festival couldn't have gone better. Here's what you can expect on Fehmarn over the next four days.

On the very first day of the Foil Festival, it becomes clear why the move from Schönberger Strand to Fehmarn was probably a good decision: Here on the south beach, the set-up from the surf festival that has just ended can be used, and the spot usually offers very good foil conditions. Fehmarn welcomes foil fans with glorious sunshine, 20 knots of sideshore wind and plenty of test equipment on the beach. Almost 40 manufacturers will be offering their products for free testing until next Monday, 20 May. And the wind also seems to be playing along.

We took a look around and in the picture gallery above you can take a look at the product highlights at the Foil Festival - if you have time, come along and try out the new products. There will also be a lot more on offer on Fehmarn: the Open German Championships will host top-class competitions and you can also ask some of the pros for tips on land or on the water.
