With Fehmarn, Kellenhusen and the Hemmelmark campsite on Eckernförde Bay, Racer of the Sea and Winger of the Sea will be returning to the places where they grew up in 2025. The Everyman regattas focus on spots with moderate conditions where even regatta beginners can enjoy the races.
The season for windsurfers at the Racer of the Sea traditionally kicks off at the surf festival on Fehmarn, where there will probably be camps and introductions to regatta procedures. In August, it's off to Kellenhusen, where one of the popular girls' camps is also on offer. The season ends with the event in Hemmelmark in September.
The Winger of the Sea starts at the end of April on Lake Dümmer and runs a week later on Fehmarn as part of the Foil Festival.

The organisers Leon Delle and Oliver-Tom Schliemann keep the rules as simple as possible: "Beginner-friendly areas, no material restrictions, a simple slalom course, uncomplicated procedures, few rules and everyone gets the same competition time on the water." By splitting the event into two divisions, windsurfers without a foil are also well catered for: "In the 'fin only division', the start is exclusively with a fin (from approx. 12 knots). Those who also (or only) foil start in the 'Mixed (Fin&Foil) Division', where the participants themselves choose whether they start with a foil or fin."
Thanks to the support of numerous partners, there is a prize for every participant at the end of each event. In addition, the online surf shop Windlounge donates 1001 euros in prize money. In addition, there is often a relaxed programme on land with a barbecue and much more!
Many rookies, women and young people
In the past 2024 season, Leon and Oli were particularly pleased about the many newcomers to the regatta scene: "As the main contact point for young and female regatta surfers and the perfect platform for beginners, we were able to inspire numerous new windsurfers." A total of 102 windsurfers took part in the regattas, including 41 rookies who had never competed in an official ranking regatta before. "The high proportion of young people was particularly pleasing - with 34 U19 surfers, they made up more than a third of the field. Just as positive: 12 female surfers were at the start, which underlines the presence of women in windsurfing," said the two organisers.
