Volkswagen has been the title sponsor of the German Windsurf Cup for many years and recently extended its commitment, as announced by Choppy Water, the agency that organises the DWC. There will be a change for 2024: the "Multivan Windsurf Cup" will become the "California Windsurf Cup" in the new season. "With the new California, which we will be presenting this year, we are showing our camper future," said Simone Brüsewitz, Head of Live Channels and Experience Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, in a statement on the new name. "In our vehicle fleet, the California stands for pure freedom and will offer even more flexibility and a contemporary living experience in the future with its three-room concept. It has everything you need for comfortable travelling and living in a car. It is practically THE surfer vehicle and that is exactly what we are emphasising with the new name."
Five dates are on the DWC tour calendar for 2024:
In addition to the DWC and the Kitesurf Masters, which have also been established for many years, VW is also taking part in a new wingfoiling event, also organised by Choppy Water. The "California Wingfoil Masters" will celebrate its premiere on Sylt in 2024 from 30 July to 4 August. In addition to the Open German Championships in Wingfoil Wave, the Wingfoil Freestyle and Slalom disciplines are also on the programme.
VW will be present at all events with exhibition vehicles and special promotions. "We are grateful to have Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles as a partner that supports us so perfectly with its vehicles," says Matthias Regber from Choppy Water about the cooperation. "As an event agency, we spend more or less the whole summer on the road and on the beach. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is our constant companion and we couldn't wish for a better partner."
