The very first event in 2023 is a highlight for the wingfoilers on the GWA (Global Wingsports Association) tour: Tauranga in New Zealand is not only an exotic location, it is also the first event in the southern hemisphere. Freestyle and slalom are on the programme here from 3 to 11 March.
The tour finale is also planned for the south, with the last of the 13 events taking place in Cape Town from 12 to 17 December 2023. Other spots include Cape Verde, the Maldives and two contests in Brazil. Alongside freestyle and slalom, wave riding is the third discipline on the GWA Tour. There is also a "Big Air" contest on Gran Canaria.
Dates and disciplines may change in the course of the year, and entire events may be cancelled or added. Current information is available at wingfoilworldtour.com
In 2022, there were ultimately five events on the GWA Tour, and the world champions were Titouan Galea and Flora Arztner (surf slalom) and Malo Guénolé and Paula Novotna (surf freestyle).
