A strong Levante made it possible to complete the women's quarter-finals. Experience in the waters off Tarifa and consistency were required in up to 25 knots. World Championship favourites Nia Suardiaz and Paula Novotna brought both with them, winning their heats and thus progressing to the semi-finals. As a reminder: if Novotna wins this event, she is world champion, if Nia Suardiaz wins, she can still become world champion at the last tour stop in Brazil. The two will then meet Flora Artzner and Bowie van der Linden respectively in the semi-finals.

In the men's event, young newcomers met the experienced riders. 14-year-old River Moore, who is at home in Tarifa, was narrowly defeated by Xavi Corr in round 1, but was all the more motivated in round 2 (in which the losers from round 1 get a second chance) and stayed in the race. "We have race and freestyle in Wingfoiling, but it's always fast. You can jump high, the landings are great, it's just a great sport!" enthused Moore.
The young Nathan Berger also lives in Tarifa, he showed one of the best performances of the day in the second round and scored one of the highest scores of the day with 8.4 points for a frontside 720. Unfortunately, the wind then died down, so the focus is now on the next few days when the decisions will be made.
