The first ROTS/WOTS One Hour Edition took place on the Dümmer at the weekend. 35 water sports enthusiasts, including 13 young people and seven women, took part in the new format. The Windsurfing Club Dümmer See e.V. and the Dümmer Lake Surf Centre jointly organised the event. boot Düsseldorf made it possible for all U19 youngsters to take part free of charge.
There were competitors in the categories Wingfoil, Windfoil including iQFOiL, Fin Slalom, Raceboard and Windsurfer LT. So there was plenty of variety both on the water and on the shore and windsurfing in all its variety! The weather conditions were at their best. Bright sunshine accompanied the participants throughout the day. The wind started with 8 to 15 knots and allowed the raceboarders and foiling classes to have their first races. Over the course of the day, the breeze freshened to between 12 and 18 knots, which was also enough for firn races. The various classes completed several races.
After the competitions, the participants gathered for a BBQ together. The convivial finale provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and celebrate the successes. "The premiere was a complete success," said Leon Delle, race director and organiser. "It was great to see how much enthusiasm and solidarity there is in the water sports community." The format of the One Hour Edition aims to bring together different disciplines and strengthen the sense of community. The mixture of sporting competition and relaxed togetherness characterised the character of the event. The high participation of young people and women in particular emphasises the appeal of the new format.
