The Wingfoil Testival Achensee is now a permanent fixture, and in 2026 the event has a new milestone to offer: The Austrian Wingfoiling Championships will be held at Lake Achensee for the first time. The championship will be organised as a tour with a total of six competitions, with Lake Achensee being one of the stops. At the same time, the event, which runs from 19 to 21 June, also offers the opportunity to test the latest wingfoil equipment.
The three-day festival brings leading manufacturers in the industry to Lake Achensee. Duotone, ION, JP-Australia, Cabrinha, NeilPryde, Starboard, Freewing, Ensis, AK Durable Supply and Core will be presenting their latest developments. Visitors can test the latest equipment directly on the water and get advice. The test opportunities cover the entire spectrum - from beginner boards to high-performance material for experienced wingfoilers.
Workshops and supporting programme
The Wingfoil Achensee team introduces beginners to the sport with special beginner workshops. The programme is complemented by pumpfoil workshops from Jurij Scheibler and Ben Beholz as well as SUP yoga sessions with Nathalie from Yogafine. The festival character is created by DJ sounds, a beach bar and balance boards to try out. A special children's programme ensures that even the youngest visitors get their money's worth. Martin Tschoner, Managing Director of Achensee Tourismus, emphasises the importance of the event for the region. The Austrian Wingfoil Championships are not only a confirmation of the strong local commitment, but also ensure a high profile far beyond Lake Achensee and give the scene event another highlight.
Lake Achensee as a water sports destination
The largest lake in Tyrol is nestled between the Karwendel and Rofan mountains and offers sporting activities, nature experiences and relaxation. The freely accessible lakeshore and the paths into the valleys of the Karwendel Nature Park create scenic adventure worlds in both summer and winter. The region is positioning itself as Tyrol's Sport & Vitality Park and is emphasising its expertise as a water sports destination with the Wingfoil Testival. The event at the Atoll Achensee lake pool utilises the ideal conditions of the lake and the existing infrastructure.
