There was plenty of test material on the beach, including some real novelties such as the Duotone Eagle One, a new freerider called Ponale from i-99, Naish's new Freeracer Bullet and much more. Eye-catchers included the colourful new Goya range and a Severne Gator in unusual green.
Among the wings, the Cross LW from GA stood out as a particularly large light wind weapon equipped with three struts. NeilPryde has a real novelty with the Firefly. Otherwise, many brands are focussing on new, lightweight materials. Tabou has a new wingboard for testing, the Zeppelin, which is primarily aimed at beginners.
There are a few real highlights in the accessories area: Maui Ultra Fins has developed a bright red board bag with a Velcro fastener to put an end to jammed zips. Also exciting is the "Reverse" mast, where the bending curve can be changed by turning the base. Duotone has some particularly thin booms in its programme this year, with the top model "Platinum Mega Slim". Slingshot is showing a new mounting system for foils with toggle screws.
Despite little wind, there was almost constant action on the water, be it at the boot Pumpfoil Challenge or the Bitburger 0.0% SUP Challenge. Together with the Heidkate surf school, the German Armed Forces offered free taster courses, and there was mine diving equipment to see and sports equipment to try out on their lorry. Speaking of taking part: Sascha Lange's morning yoga session had so many participants on the very first day that it had to be moved to the western end of the site, where there was more space.
Over the next few days there are more highlights on the agenda such as the Racer of the Sea, the German Freestyle Battles, star guest Björn Dunkerbeck and his film "Born to WIndsurf" and much more! Come along and enjoy the full surf feeling!
