Wingsurf voting: Does a wing need a window?

Opinions differ on the question of whether or not you need a window in the wing when wingsurfing. What do you think? Is a window absolutely necessary or is it just pointless extra weight?

There are currently wings with and without windows on the market. There are good reasons for each concept - and arguments against it.

The manufacturers of wings with windows primarily cite the safety aspect. Even if the viewing corridor is usually quite narrow, the window still allows a brief look to leeward before the manoeuvre. Why do some manufacturers still do without windows in the wing? One of the main arguments is certainly the higher weight. Because the PVC material of the window is heavier than the canopy material, an identical wing with a window weighs between 200 and 400 grams more on the ribs - depending on the size of the window fitted. Another reason for not using windows is the supposedly poorer durability or the larger packing dimensions. Background: The wing should not be folded over the window, as the PVC window can develop permanent creases, especially in cold temperatures when the material becomes stiff, which can tear sooner or later.

But what do you think about this topic? Here's the voting, we're curious to see where your priorities lie.
