The World Cup Fuerte is picking up speed. The first freestyle heats took place today. The German starters are doing well.

It's only been a few days since the wingfoil elite raised the bar to a new level at the World Cup Pozo - and the next event is already taking place on the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. The fact that it wasn't blowing at 40 knots+ here, as in Gran Canaria, should suit many pros - but even so, the conditions at the start were more than up to scratch with 25 to 30 knots. Two disciplines are held at the World Cup Fuerte - FreeFly Slalom and Surf Freestyle.

On the first day, the regatta organisers decided to start with surf freestyle due to the solid wind conditions. The first rounds were completed and with Lasse Harbacek and Benjamin May, two German riders are still in the race.

You can watch all the heats in the live stream - just the thing for a rainy Sunday. By the way, the stream is well worth watching and professionally done - with live scoring, commentary and everything that goes with it. Click in!

As soon as there are results and photos from the World Cup Fuerte, you can read the summaries with the highlights of the day here on this page.
