The Wingfoil World Cup comes to Hvide Sande for the first time
At the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Hvide Sande, the stars of the scene will be fighting for important world championship points over the next few days - provided the wind gets going.

For the first time, the wingfoil scene is coming to Denmark for a World Cup - the surf freestyle and free-fly slalom disciplines are on the programme in Hvide Sande until 9 September. The first World Cup decisions could already be made. Due to the possibility of a strike result in the course of the season, both the German-Spanish rider Nia Suardiaz and the US American Chris MacDonald could clinch the World Championship title in the surf freestyle discipline early on with a victory. Suardiaz could also secure the World Championship title in the FreeFly Slalom and thus leave Denmark as double World Champion. Things are even more exciting in the men's slalom. New Caledonian Titouan Galea is currently in the lead here. He could also be crowned world champion again with a victory, but will have to rely on his closest rivals Francesco Cappuzzo and Bastien Escofet slipping up.

A total of 45 participants from 14 nations are taking part in the World Cup. We can only hope that the wind forecast will improve, as a stable area of high pressure is currently ensuring the best summer weather, but unfortunately also little moving air.

However, Denmark has often surprised us in the past, so we are still hoping for some action-packed days in Hvide Sande. As soon as the first World Cup decisions are made, we will of course keep you up to date.
