Blue Ocean Stories is entering the market for body care products with a clear focus: to develop natural and environmentally friendly solutions specifically for water sports enthusiasts. The young Spanish start-up with German roots was founded by a team of enthusiastic water sports enthusiasts with a passion for the sea. "Our aim is to develop innovative products that optimise hair and skin protection under these exceptional conditions," explain the founders. They emphasise that the products under the name "Li Lé Blue" should be healthy for both people and the environment.
Behind Blue Ocean Stories are Dr Manuela Reisbeck, a doctor with many years of experience in research and development, and Olga McGill, a yacht captain and diving instructor who lives with and on the sea. The brand name "Li Lé Blue" was inspired by a small island in this archipelago, which is considered a diving paradise and home to one of the most diverse underwater worlds.
The first product from Blue Ocean Stories addresses a well-known problem for many surfers: damaged hair caused by salt water, sun and wind. The company has developed a protective care oil that protects and cares for the hair of water sports enthusiasts in salt water, they say. "It is a very personal product, as it was developed specifically for my co-founder Olga and tried out by her personally on various dives," explains Manuela Reisbeck. The success was convincing and provided the impetus for founding the company.
We design extraordinary brands with the intention of creating an emotional connection between people and the ocean."
Blue Ocean Stories now also has a zinc sun cream without white film in its range, as well as an after sun body serum and a solid shampoo for travelling - a kind of bar of soap for the hair, which is particularly practical when travelling. Further new products are planned in this area, including a solid hair conditioner, zinc sun cream, facial cleanser and body oil.
Blue Ocean Stories attaches particular importance to sustainability and marine conservation, and the hair oil is certified as "reef friendly", among other things. The company name was not chosen at random, explains the company. The products are intended to tell exciting stories and connect people with the oceans. This is also reflected in other products, such as a bath towel whose design was inspired by an underwater photo that Olga herself took in Indonesia.
If you would like to try out the Blue Ocean Stories products, you can pick up a free sample at the surf tent at the surf festival on Fehmarn (29 May to 1 June).
The company's connection to the sea is also reflected in its social commitment. Blue Ocean Stories supports the Misool Foundation in the Raja Ampat archipelago in Indonesia, which combines marine conservation and social programmes.
We understand the special needs of water sports enthusiasts when it comes to hair and body care, both from a medical-scientific perspective and from our own hands-on experience - a perfect combination!"
In a recent collaboration, Blue Ocean Stories teamed up with "Dizzy Disco", a young German artist. The entertainment programme for children uses music and dance as Dizzy the Disco Dolphin to bring the little ones closer to sea creatures and marine conservation. Blue Ocean Stories has taken on the task of designing "sea-friendly" children's care products and developing a number of merchandise items.
Product development at Blue Ocean Stories follows a scientific approach. One of the founders, a doctor and scientist, is personally responsible for this area. Her task is to discover and use scientifically sound and innovative ingredients that are in line with the company's philosophy. The result is unique, natural products whose effectiveness has been scientifically proven and which are in harmony with terrestrial and, above all, aquatic ecosystems.
