The Gath brand comes from Australia, where hardcore conditions are well known. The helmet does not have the usual adjustment wheel at the back of the head, the good hold on the head results from the perfectly enclosing shape, which extends laterally over the ears, almost to the base of the jaw. As a result, the helmet can hardly slip up, even if the strap is only adjusted moderately tightly. The impact-resistant but still somewhat flexible outer shell ends above the forehead, where the material changes into a soft padding material. The inner padding itself is somewhat thinner and firmer at ten millimetres, but very flat and therefore quite comfortable. For individual adjustments, Gath supplies a self-adhesive padding strip that can be used to customise the fit. A bag for the helmet is also included. Because the helmet reaches down further than average both at the back of the head and on the forehead, thus enclosing the head over a large area, you feel well protected. The helmet design is particularly sophisticated in the ear area: a rotating plastic plate allows the helmet to be opened for better hearing. If the wind noise disturbs you or it gets too cold, the holes can be closed in an instant.
WING conclusion:
The Gath Hat EVA impresses as a helmet that covers a large area, is very lightweight, fits well and has well thought-out features!
