With a Standard leashIf you use a leash that is attached to your ankle, you always have the problem of it dragging in the water and having a braking effect. If you choose a shorter leash, you may not be able to move far enough away from the board in the event of a fall, which poses a risk of injury.
The retractable EFS Roll Leash is designed to solve precisely these problems. The leash is housed in a plastic casing, which can be carried either on the lower leg or on the hip. A short, stretchy element is attached to the board, which is then attached to the retractable part of the leash. In this way, the system is not under tension when foiling. In the event of a fall, the leash unwinds, resulting in a total length of three metres.
The plastic housing of the roll leash has a small hole at the top so that the system can be flushed with fresh water from time to time. Individual parts such as the tension spring can also be replaced if necessary to give the system a long service life. The price of the retractable leash varies depending on the package selected: the "leg strap kit", consisting of a roll leash, short connecting piece and leg strap, is available for 149 euros. Alternatively, the EFS Roll Leash is also available with a waist belt kit (189 euros), waist belt kit with harness hook (199 euros) or even in combination with an impact protection waistcoat (249 euros). The leash systems are available on the E-Surfer website.
We already have a test sample of the retractable leash, and you will soon be able to read our experience report here on the website.
