The ProWIP 2.0 helmet from Forward WIP should be in its element when the competition gets down to business. We tried out the water sports helmet.

Forward WIP caters for all requirements with a range of different models - from featherweight (HERE is a test of the Wiflex Pro, which weighs just 250 grams) to "bulletproof", everything is included. The ProWIP 2.0 is one of the helmets with a very high protective function, which is why the model is also recommended for competitive athletes. With a measured weight of 350 grams, it is somewhat heavier than the brand's lightest models, but is absolutely competitive in a cross-brand comparison (Tip: Here's a test of other water sports helmets). The ProWIP 2.0 is available in four colour combinations and three sizes.

The very firm and thick shell is striking and should offer a correspondingly high level of protection against impacts. Inside, the helmet has Velcro padding that ensures a comfortable fit on the head. The scope of delivery includes additional padding that can be used to customise the fit. The adjustment wheel at the back of the head is easy to reach and is also covered with rubber on the inside to prevent any annoying pressure points. The fastener on the chin is magnetic and can therefore even be opened with one hand. Overall, the helmet encloses the head completely and offers a very good fit.

The Forward WIP ProWIP 2.0 can be used either with or without ear pieces. These are simply clicked into place to lock them. However, because they sit quite loosely on the ear and have ear holes, there is sometimes annoying wind noise in the ear when in the water.

Forward WIP ProWIP 2.0 - the conclusion

The ProWIP 2.0 helmet is thicker than average and solid, offering a very high level of protection. It is very comfortable to wear and the features are also very impressive. However, the Wiflex Pro is also easily sufficient for relaxed cruising on the foil; this model is a little lighter, cheaper and offers similarly good features.
