With the model Rogue offers ION offers a special wingsurf harness. It is available in two sizes (S/M & L/XL) and in two colours. The outer shell is made of strong GRP material, which is designed to distribute the forces well and prevent the spine from being stressed at certain points. The cut is moderately wide - wider than the sometimes very minimalist wingsurf harnesses of other brands, but also cut less high than normal windsurf or kitesurf harnesses.
The fastener is simple but absolutely functional, and adjusting the size is also easy. One small drawback is that the fastener for the hook is a little fiddly to use with clammy fingers. There is a metal eyelet on the side of the hook to which a leash can be attached. The hook is centred in front of the belly, but can move sideways, e.g. if you want to continue riding when hooked into the switch position. As soon as you unhook, an elastic band centres the hook again - a clever solution.
We found the wearing comfort to be above average during testing. The firm cover distributes the pull comfortably, which means that longer strokes are also possible without causing annoying pressure points. Nevertheless, you can forget that you're actually wearing the harness when you're swinging, as it hardly absorbs any water, is lightweight and is cut narrow enough not to restrict your freedom of movement. The ION Rogue harness may not be a bargain at €219.99, but it is currently one of the top harnesses for wingfoilers on the market. The features are well thought out and the comfort and freedom of movement are of a high standard. As with any hard shell harness, we recommend trying it on in the Surf shop.
