Mystic is firmly rooted in wakeboarding, kiteboarding and windsurfing, so of course a veritable helmet collection is a must - the MK 8 X test model alone is available in numerous colour combinations. The fact that the helmet is a little heavier is mainly due to the classy features: even the solid outer shell of the MK8 X is thicker than that of most other brands. The inside is lined with ten millimetre thick, very firm padding, onto which additional soft pads are velcroed. The scope of delivery includes additional Velcro pads of different thicknesses, which can be used to customise the helmet - although these absorb quite a lot of water. Mystic consistently omits the ear area, which means that the helmet does not enclose the sides of the head as much as other models and cannot protect the eardrum in the event of a fall on the ear. However, additional ear pads are available for an extra charge. However, because the wide chin strap - which is fixed in place by a magnetic fastener - is very comfortably padded, the Mystic MK8 X can still be tightened well and largely prevented from riding up.
WING conclusion:
The MK8 X seems a little heavier but so solid that you could literally put your head through a wall. The features are convincing across the board, but for loop training you should also protect your ears with earplugs or retrofit the ear pads.

Ear protection optional
