In addition to wings, foils and accessories, GunSails now also offers boards. There are two models to start with, an inflatable in three sizes and a hardboard in four sizes. Both are aimed at a broad target group, from beginners to advanced riders.
The hardboard model called the Hy-Board comes with a different character depending on the size. While the small 5'0" board is aimed at experienced wingers for use in stronger winds, the two medium sizes can be used by everyone from beginners to advanced riders. "Their manoeuvrability and carving potential are fantastic and offer the rider plenty of room for improvement and progression," writes GunSails. The large 6'0", on the other hand, is intended as a board with plenty of reserve volume for light winds or for beginners.
In terms of shape details, Gun relies on a slight nose rocker for gentle nose dives and concaves in the underwater hull for stabilisation. The double US box for the foil sits on a small plateau, which should enable the ideal angle and make the tail kick more effective. The board is made from bamboo and PVC sandwich technology, the box is reinforced with carbon. The scope of delivery includes three foot straps.
The inflatable board goes by the name Hy-Flate and is said to be the "ultimate combination of pack size, durability and winging performance". The foil plate is made of aluminium, a tear-off edge at the tail is intended to provide early lift and a kick in the pad for a secure stance. Numerous footstrap plugs make the board customisable for all skill levels, although the straps themselves have to be purchased separately. The package also includes a rucksack with wheels, a double lift pump and a repair kit.
