At 143 litres, the Shred Sled is a heavy hauler in the wingfoil league, but the features such as the all-round side bevels and the raised tail make the shape more of a wing specialist than a board for windsurf foiling. The foil position, which can only be mounted far forward, and the strap positions - single at the back, centred at the front and diagonal - fit in with this. The Shred Sled model is only available in one size (7'0'') and costs € 1979.
The Crossoverboard Shred Sled established itself in the test as a very good base for getting into wingfoiling, the first start on it is child's play. Thanks to the wide bow and the underwater hull optimised for planing, the board is easy to get going despite its compact length. With the matching Slingshot Foil (Infinity 76), the board flies very stable and easy to control, even in very light winds. In the air, the board remains easy to control despite its ample volume, as its relatively short length allows it to be sensitively balanced in the air. The two straps are mounted in the centre (slightly slanted at the front) and ensure good control, but you ride "switch" on one side, so there is no need to change feet in the jibe.
We only used the rear strap for windsurfing, which at least gave us some security on the straight, but didn't really help in the jibe, which you have to surf "strapless", which is a bit more demanding than with the front strap in secure board contact.
Even with a sail, the setup impressed with very early lift and incredibly long "flying through" wind holes or jibes even at the lowest speeds. Sporty windsurfing foiling is not possible due to the lack of loops, and wingsurfing is also limited to cruising and foiled manoeuvres rather than jumping due to the size. In addition to the windfoil disciplines, the Crossoverboard is also recommended for SUP foiling in waves - we were unable to try this out, but we can speculate that this is very possible in smaller waves. Classic SUP surfing with fins is understandably not intended for this shape - anyone looking for such a concept should try the Test of the Fanatic Bee crossover board check!
The Slingshot Shred Sled is well trimmed for wing foiling and windsurf foiling and is ideal for beginners in both sports. Advanced riders can cruise and practise foiling manoeuvres in light winds with a sail or wing. If you want to focus more on wingsurfing in the future, the Shred Sled might soon become a little too big for you. The board is particularly suitable in combination with high-lift cruiser foils ("low-aspect"), less so for sporty wings.
Good-natured, easy to plan & ideal for beginners
Windsurfing foils only without front loops
