The Slingshot Wing Craft V2 has been completely redeveloped and has absolutely nothing to do with the previous model. The Wingboard is available in a total of eight sizes from 50 to 140 litres.
Our test size of 90 litres was within the normal weight range with a measured 7.10 kilos. Compared to the previous model, the board is almost 17 centimetres shorter. The thickness has been increased to accommodate the volume. However, the sizes from 105 litres upwards are designed to be much more elongated in order to be able to take off early even with a passive riding style. In the rear of the 90-litre model we tested, there is an above-average length double rail in which a wide variety of foils can be mounted. There is also a suitable carrying handle. The handle on the predecessor model ( HERE There's a test) the bevelled tail area at the bottom is now history, the new board has a hard tear-off edge to ensure a clean water break. The flat deck has a very grippy pad and all the plugs for a wide variety of strap set-ups. However, the straps themselves are not included in the scope of delivery, but at 1419 euros the board is in the moderate price segment.
We will also be presenting the Slingshot Wing Craft V2 in detail on our YouTube channel shortly. Take a look and subscribe to our channel.
The new Slingshot Wing Craft V2 is nicely balanced in the water around the longitudinal axis, the thick edges and ample width ensure good tipping stability here. Understandably, the short board needs to be loaded a little more sensitively around the transverse axis. When starting off, you should make yourself comfortable in the straps and not put too much weight forward. Overall, the short Wing Craft V2 can still reach the required take-off speed surprisingly early with an active riding style. However, with sub-optimal technique or a passive riding style, the board gets up to speed a little later than its predecessor, the V1.
As soon as you are in the air, the compact board hangs beautifully on your foot. It has no annoying life of its own and is easy to control. In manoeuvres, the flat deck gives you plenty of room to stomp around. The Slingshot Wing Craft V2 also has particular strengths in all jumped and rotated tricks, as the centrifugal mass is particularly low here.
The Slingshot Wing Craft V2 combines very compact flight behaviour, great manoeuvrability and, assuming an active riding style, good planing behaviour. This makes it ideal for freeriding, tricks and trips into the waves. Only beginners and intermediates who want to take off as early as possible or who live in designated light wind spots are unlikely to be 100 per cent happy with the 90-litre model. The 105/120 and 140 litre sizes are likely to have more potential due to the more elongated outline.
